Welcome to Friends of Powell Butte School!
Mission Statement:
'To support and encourage educational efforts at Powell Butte Community Charter School (PBCCS) by augmenting financial and human resources with those available in our community and beyond.'
Friends of Powell Butte School,(FOPBS), a non profit 501(c)(3) was formed in August of 2009 to collect the funds needed ($274,000) to keep the 4th and 5th grades at the then Powell Butte Elementary School. The $274,000 figure included a $100,000 loan. With fundraisers sponsored by FOPBS and the dedication of the community the loan was satisfied in August of 2010.
Friends of Powell Butte School and the original PBES PTC (parent-teachers club) agreed to join together last year (2010) and since that time, FOPBS has functioned to help provide the needs of the Powell Butte Community Charter School to support programs for the school such as the initial busing program. Presently FOPBS is the entity implementing the two days of providing a hot lunch program for the students of PBCCS.
FOPBS consists of all the parents, teachers and any community members that are interested in the well being and continued growth of PBCCS. FOPBS meets the 3rd Thursday of each month at 2:45 p.m. in the school cafeteria. The Principal or a teacher presents an update on the happenings at PBCCS, upcoming events or fundraisers are planned and questions are answered. We encourage and invite anyone to attend.
